Beef Sirloin Roast from The Black Farmer
The Beef Sirloin Roast is a classic choice for a hearty and flavourful meal, perfect for Sunday dinners or special occasions. Known for its balance of tenderness and robust beefy flavour, this cut comes from the loin section, providing a lean yet juicy roast that cooks beautifully. At The Black Farmer, we source our beef sirloin roasts from local farms in Wiltshire, Somerset, and the South West. Our grass-fed, free-range cattle enjoy a stress-free life in the picturesque British countryside, ensuring a top-quality roast every time.
Is Sirloin a Good Cut for Roasting?
Yes, sirloin is an excellent choice for roasting. It is leaner than some other cuts, such as ribeye, but still has enough marbling to keep the meat moist and flavourful during cooking. This makes it ideal for those who prefer a roast that is both tender and rich in taste.
How Should a Beef Sirloin Roast Be Cooked?
For the best results, sear the sirloin roast over high heat to develop a golden-brown crust, then roast it in the oven at a moderate temperature. This method ensures the meat stays juicy and tender. Resting the roast after cooking is crucial to allow the juices to redistribute, resulting in a succulent and flavourful meal.
What Makes the Sirloin Roast Special?
The sirloin roast is prized for its balance of flavour and tenderness. It offers a robust, beefy taste with a texture that is firmer than fillet but more tender than rump, making it a versatile choice that pairs well with various herbs and seasonings.

Cooking Instructions
Roasted Beef Sirloin Roast Cooking Instructions
Oven Method:
Preparation: Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan) or gas mark 6. Remove the beef sirloin roast from the fridge 1 hour before cooking to bring it to room temperature. This step ensures the roast cooks evenly and achieves a tender, juicy interior.
Seasoning: Generously rub the beef sirloin roast with olive oil, sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and your choice of herbs, such as rosemary and thyme. For added flavour, you can also add minced garlic. This seasoning helps create a crispy, seasoned crust that locks in the juices.
Searing: Heat a large ovenproof skillet or roasting pan over high heat until hot. Sear the beef sirloin roast on all sides for 3-4 minutes per side until it develops a deep, golden-brown crust. Searing is essential for adding rich flavour and sealing in the juices.
Roasting: Transfer the seared roast to the preheated oven. Roast for about 15 minutes per 450g for medium-rare, or adjust the cooking time according to your preferred level of doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 54-57°C for medium-rare.
Resting: Once the roast reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest on a wooden board for 20 minutes under loosely tented foil. Resting is crucial as it allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it tender and juicy.
Serve: Slice the roasted beef sirloin against the grain to ensure maximum tenderness. Serve on a wooden board alongside fluffy Yorkshire puddings and a selection of roasted vegetables, such as carrots, parsnips, and potatoes, for a classic British Sunday roast. The bright natural lighting highlights the joint’s rich, seasoned crust and tender, juicy interior, making for a high-definition, classic, and inviting presentation.
These instructions provide a comprehensive guide on how to cook a beef sirloin roast to perfection, ensuring a crispy, seasoned crust with a tender, juicy interior every time. Ideal for a traditional Sunday roast or any special occasion, this recipe will appeal to those looking to enjoy a classic, flavourful meal with all the trimmings.
By following these steps, you’ll master the art of roasting a beef sirloin joint, creating a delicious centrepiece that is both impressive and inviting. Perfect for serving with Yorkshire puddings and roasted vegetables, this dish showcases the rich flavours and textures of a well-prepared roast.
Storage Instructions
To ensure optimal freshness and quality, it is important to store the Beef Sirloin Joint properly. Place the bag of beef in the refrigerator at a temperature below 40°F (4°C). Ensure that the bag is tightly sealed or transfer the joint to an airtight container to prevent any contamination or exposure to air. Properly stored, the beef sirloin joint can be refrigerated for up to 3-5 days. If you need to store it for a longer period, you can freeze the beef. Wrap the joint tightly in plastic wrap and place it in a freezer-safe container or resealable plastic bag, removing as much air as possible. Frozen beef sirloin joint can maintain its quality for approximately 6-12 months.

We ordered a meat box whilst we were camping and had an issue with the delivery company. Chris from the Black Farmer was on the case before I even knew about it. I have never had such a positive customer experience when faced with an issue. Thanks to Chris our meat box arrived in time for our BBQ and was the most delicious hot dogs my family have ever tasted. We will certainly be ordering again and would highly recommend to others. Brilliant quality food and a company you can trust!

Received the Easter Box as a competition prize. Had no idea what to expect inside but what a lovely surprise it was. A full Easter Sunday lunch with everything provided and a recipe card as well. The box arrived, complete with ice packs, in excellent condition. The contents were fantastic. The lamb was amazing and I am not its greatest fan. The pie we made was delicious and yes I went straight to the supermarket and bought some Black Farmer sausages and bacon. Will def be ordering more from you in the future - a well deserved 5 stars!!

Initially I’d been reluctant to order as I didn’t want lots of fresh meat arriving with only me here to eat it! Customer Services assured me I could freeze the items upon delivery, which I did - with the exception of one sirloin steak which is now in my tummy and was absolutely delicious! 😁.Delightful service, prompt delivery and delicious food 😋😁🌟
