How to use a cooked ham hock

Warm it gently in a pan of simmering water or stock for 20 to 30 minutes until piping hot, then pull the meat from the bone. Stir it through split pea or lentil soup, fold it into Caribbean-style stews with beans and greens, or toss it through pasta and risotto. The bone itself earns a second life simmered into stock.
